X-Rays

X-rays

X-ray image plate techniques have been used to study the adsorption (both physical and chemical) of molecules on surfaces. A MAR345 based detector system with two orders of magnitude enhancement in the dynamic range, auto read/erase features and accurate repositioning of the individual detector elements has been essential in obtaining accurate difference maps. Adsorption studies of Kr, Xe, and methyl halide films on graphite, BN and MgO substrates have been performed using beamline X7B at the NSLS.
